  3. While this CD is short by modern standards you get all the band’s hits that you really want without too much of the filler material that dilute other ‘Best Ofs’. This also gives you a good overview of the other styles that the band employed, such as unsurprisingly Blues and more unusually Cajun amongst others/5().

Stevie Winwood and Muff Winwood had left the Spencer Davis Group just a few months before the summer release of their second U.S. album, which nonetheless was entirely comprised of songs done by the original lineup. Like their first U.S. album, Gimme Some Lovin', it was a more or less arbitrary assortment of songs that had been recorded by the band at various points in the mid-'60s.

All of the best-known songs are here -- "I'm a Man," "Gimme Some Lovin'," "Every Little Bit Hurts," "Keep on Running," "When I Come Home," "This Hammer," etc. -- in loud, robust, and richly textured sound. The organ, piano, drums, and guitars fairly leap out at you, and Winwood 's vocals never sounded better or closer than they do on this CD.

The Spencer Davis Group are a British band formed in Birmingham in , by Spencer Davis (guitar) with Steve Winwood (keyboards, guitar) and his brother, Muff Winwood (bass guitar) and Pete York (drums).
